BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

To ensure your comfort levels are maintained, numbing cream is highly recommended, we cannot apply it unless you have been given approval by a medical practitioner first. We use Aspley Day & Night Pharmacy, you fill out this form and they will advise you when it is ready to collect https://aspleydayandnight.com.au/topical-anaesthetic-cream

They sell a cream and also a gel for secondary numbing if you have a lower pain threshold.

You apply the cream an 45-60 mins prior to your appointment (ensure you have applied a generous amount of cream for it to be effective) and if you have also purchased the gel you can bring this along with you to your appointment to be applied 5 mins prior to the treatment.

Pre care instructions are designed to limit bleeding and sensitivities during the procedure.

Excessive bleeding can result in dilution of pigment & poor retention.

• 24 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL or CAFFEINE.

• 72 hours prior to your appointment, DO NOT TAKE ADVIL or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin or Vitamin E unless medically necessary.

• Do not work out 24 hours before procedure.

• If you take fish oil, discontinue use 7 days prior to procedure. You can resume after procedure is done.

• Avoid Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc), “Hair, Skin, Nail” supplements 48 hours prior to procedure.

• Discontinue Retin-A at least 4 weeks prior.

• Avoid Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion or facials for 4-weeks prior to procedure.

• Botox and any lips fillers should be done 4 weeks prior to or  after the procedure.

• Avoid booking during your menstrual cycle as it can increase your pain.

• Wear your normal lip makeup to the procedure. This will help us determine the best shape/shade for you.

• Be prepared for your lips to look a little red and a little bit darker immediately after your treatment. – don’t worry, they will soften up to 40% lighter during the healing stage. Just ensure that you plan your procedure to allow healing time around any special event if it is your first procedure. This is to ensure there are no adverse reactions after  your initial appointment.

• YOU MUST NOT BE SUN TANNED OR BURNED ON THE FACE. I CANNOT PROCEED WITH YOUR SERVICE. A sun tan/burn is injury to the skin, as the skin is healing itself it will shed all the top layers. This means the pigment will not stay. Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE, please plan accordingly.

• There is a 14 days healing period where we ask that you not be heavily exposed to sun, exercise, swim, or submerge your lips in water. We want to limit sweating whilst lips are healing. Please keep this in mind when booking your appointment.

• You will be asked to Receive or Waive the allergy test when you submit your forms. (If you have known allergies we will require you to undergo an allergy test at your consultation and then book in your procedure at least 48 hrs after the allergy test to ensure there are no adverse reactions to any product we use on you during the treatment.)

If you have know allergies, please disclose this to us at the time of  booking. If you are booking online we would require you to only book the consultation so that the allergy testing can be performed at that time and then you can schedule your cosmetic tattoo procedure from 48 hrs after.

• All your questions regarding the design of your cosmetic tattoo (colour, shape, placement etc.) will be addressed by the Artist prior to commencing your procedure. The cosmetic tattoo artist will not start the service until you have approved the design and are ready to begin. Please keep in mind, if we believe you are unfit to undergo the treatment or if we feel you won’t achieve the desired result based on the consultation we can refuse service. At Brisbane's Elegant Beauty we want both our clients and technicians to be comfortable and willing participants in the service. This will ensure that we are creating desirable results and that our procedures are safe. The Cosmetic Tattoo Artist makes the final decision to tattoo an individual at their own discretion.

Do not book a full procedure if you are hesitant, unsure, or apprehensive about changing your natural brows, lips or eyeliner area.

We advise if you are really nervous to only book in a consultation and then only book when you are 100% ready for your new lips.  Everyone is a little bit nervous at first but we ensure we conduct a thorough consultation, take the time to draw out the shape, discuss colour options and growth patterns, this ensures you obtain the desired result and allows us to do our best work in creating your new brows, lips or eyeliner!

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

Now that we have done the procedure.. it is up to you to take good care of your lips so that they heal properly and keep their colour. Here are some guidelines to protect your investment. Aftercare accounts for 50% or more of your end result! So be sure to follow our instructions for optimum results.

FINAL RESULTS ARE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY HOW CLOSELY YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. There is no down time for Cosmetic Tattooing, however, the area may be red and tender we recommend that you do not plan any social activities immediately afterwards. This is NOT a quick fix beauty treatment and you have to be prepared to endure all the healing stages of Cosmetic Tattooing. Please note that your lips will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first few days (20-40% darker). They may also look thicker in shape. This is completely normal as the excess pigment is sitting on top of your skin. This will gradually fade during the healing process as your skin heals and contracts. The final results are NOT meant to stay as dark as your lips appear immediately after procedure is finished. Your lips will continue to soften to a more natural colour with 4-6 weeks post treatment.

We allow our clients the opportunity to build up to a stronger colour at their next visit to minimise any shock associated with their transformation. In this way we find our clients are always satisfied with their results and feel like they can go about their daily activities without feeling self-conscious.

Blot excess Lymph  with a clean tissue  in the next hour post treatment. ** This is important as it will prevent a build up that will cause for heavy scabbing, which in return will not give you the best colour retention.

Use a lot of lip balm to keep your lips moisturized. Plan a follow up appointment with your permanent makeup artist.
DON'T: Pick your scabs. Never! Also, avoid sun exposure and workouts for around 2 weeks. Do not eat spicy food in the 48 hours following the session.

• NO EXCESSIVE SWEATING DURING THE 14 DAYS. This is to avoid an infection in the freshly tattooed area. Remember, sweat and dirt can accumulate. An infection can lead to scarring and low colour retention.

• NO RUBBING, SCRATCHING, PICKING at the area.

• Limit SUN EXPOSURE; if you will be out in the sun be sure to wear a hat to keep them protected during the healing stage.

• NO OTHER PRODUCTS ON THE LIPS for 14 days. This includes makeup, oils, soaps, or any other products.

AFTER THE 14 DAYS

Congratulations! You have survived!! You are now able to resume your normal cleansing/makeup routine.

On day 15, wash the lips very gently with baby shampoo. Remember, your lips may appear very, very light and patchy immediately after any flaking. The colour will continue to darken over the next few weeks.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE NEXT 30 DAYS

Days 2-4 Lips will darken as the scabs form over the newly pigmented area. They will appear VERY DARK. Don’t panic!

Days 5-7 The scabs will harden and fall off in small to medium chunks. Let the scabs fall off on their own! DO NOT PULL THEM OFF!!

Days 8-10 The lips will look very, very light after the flaking comes off. This is normal!

Days 14-28 It will then fade to no colour and re-appears after 3-6 weeks. Bepanthen Cream or a gentle moisturisor must be applied constantly as your lips will be very dry. Keep them moist with the Bepanthen cream or moisturisor and if you suffer cold sore use cold sore cream like Zovirax with the Bepanthen cream. The lips will continue to darken each week, and will appear patchy at times. Again, this is normal. It takes about a month for the lips to fully heal. Any adjustments to the lips will be done at your follow-up, so don’t forget to book!

This does not replace your lipstick, but gives your lips a natural, blushy tint. If you are a person that loves the appearance of "no-makeup makeup" and wants to look like your lips have a little life during the work week, at the gym, picking up a coffee and running errands, and like to feel "effortlessly put-together" - this is it! On the weekends when you go out for an event and wear heavier makeup, put on some heels and a bright and bold, or dark and grungy lipstick, then have fun with it!
