Skin Needling

Skin Needling, also known as Dermapen or Micro Needling is an automated-micro needling therapy system that vertically pierces the skin to naturally stimulate collagen and elastin with minimal epidermal damage. This enhances rejuvenation results and is far safer for the client because there is much less epidermal damage. The automatic, high speed vibrating function of the Dermapen increases the effectiveness of the treatment by rapidly creating quick multiple insertions which dramatically reduce pain and discomfort for the patient. A great treatment for all skin types.

How Does Skin Needling Work?

•The treatment introduces fine needles to the skin to create microscopic channels. In doing so the dermis is encouraged to produce new collagen and elastin which generates new skin cells. The skin then becomes thicker, plumper and more youthful. The Dermapen that is covered with many ultra-fine needles is run across the targeted areas to create small channels in the skin. As the device rolls along the skin, these needles penetrate the upper layers of skin producing thousands of tiny puncture marks or micro-medical needle- channels in the skin.

•These microscopic wounds, which heal within a few hours, stimulate the skin’s healing process and increase collagen and elastin production. Skin Needling is gentle enough to stimulate collagen production without producing scar tissue or increasing pigmentation.

•The epidermis is affected by this process as evinced by redness and superficial bleeding. The presence of bleeding and inflammation then prompts the body’s natural healing process. During the healing process, growth factors, connective tissue proteins, and other chemicals involved in faster healing are produced at an efficient rate. Collagen, elastin, fibroblasts, and other growth factors then replace the injuries which will then be the foundation of new skin. Based on studies, four sessions of microneedling increase collagen and elastin production by up to 400% within a 6-month treatment period.

WHAT other names is the treatment known as?

Skin Needling is also called;

•Collagen-Induction-Therapy (CIT)

•Skin rolling

•Derma rolling

•PCI micro needling (Percutaneous Collagen Induction)

•Microneedle Therapy

•Meso rolling

•Multi Trepannic Collagen Actuation

WHAT conditions does skin needling treat?

•Mild to moderate acne scarring

•Surgical scarring

•Fine lines and wrinkles

•Stretch marks

•Pore size and skin texture

•Keloid scarring

•Even out skin tone irregularities due to hyperpigmentation or aging

•Reduce broken capillaries or spider veins

•Reduce sun spots

•Rejuvenate by firming, lifting, toning and sculpting sagging skin.

•Traditional Dermal Rollers puncture the skin in slanted angles. The rolling action of the device causes the needles to enter and leave at an angle, resulting in a painful experience and lateral epidermal tears. The mechanics of the needle, and angled application of the needles, create a much more painful treatment with longer recovery time.

Frequently Asked Questions

•Can I treat any area on my face and body?

Yes, all areas of the face and body can be treated. Scarring and stretch marks can be treated too.

•Do the little holes/channels in the skin stay open and will it absorb dirt?

No, the tiny channels quickly close over, within the hour.

•Can you use the Skin Needling device if the client is breastfeeding or pregnant?

The reason we say not use a needling device when pregnant or lactating is that the body needs all of its vitamins to feed the baby. So, as the production of new collagen uses some vitamins, it is best not to needle at this time.

•Can you do Skin Needling if the client has active acne?

We can treat acne on the skin,. However, if it is active, skin needling should be avoided during outbreaks.

•Can Skin Needling be performed for all skin types and colours?

Absolutely. It’s safe and effective for all types and colours of skin. There is no risk of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.

•Can I use serums and anti-aging products with Skin Needling?

Yes, you can use serums after Skin Needling treatments, but be aware that the product will penetrate 80% more than it does right now.

For the best results, clients should follow these tips leading up to their appointment:

•Keep out of the sun for 24 hours before your treatment.

•Avoid taking autoimmune disease medication for 24 hours.

•Arrive at the clinic with a clean face and no makeup.

•Don’t have Skin Needling performed if you have used Accutane (Isotretinoin), an acne medication, in the last six months.

How Long Until You See Results?

All skin is different so we cannot give a definite time frame for results, but as you do the treatments your skin will feel lighter, tighter and brighter almost immediately.

If you are treating scars or wrinkles you will see results each week as the skin changes and collagen re-grows, then after 1-3 months deeper results.

We apply 100% Hyaluronic Acid serum on the treatment area.

The product penetrates into the skin while Skin Needling and helps glide the device over the treated area.

This product also allows for better and hydrated results.
